Ameritas Coverage Availability & Fees
Ameritas dental insurance is similar to most benefits plans in that it has a heavy focus on preventive care; in fact, when you visit an in-network provider, your routine checkups, cleanings, and X-rays may come at no out of pocket cost to you. Minor restorative work is usually covered at a rate of 70 – 80%, while major restorative work may be covered at just 50 – 60%.
Since Ameritas insurance is a PPO plan, you are free to choose any dentist you like. However, coverage rates are significantly lower at out of network care providers.
Although Ameritas has much in common with other dental insurance companies, it does have a few traits that make it stand out as different:
-
Some Ameritas plans include a Dental Rewards feature. If you take good care of your teeth and do not use your entire annual maximum, you may be able to roll over some of that maximum’s value into the following year.
-
The vast majority of dental insurance plans offer no coverage whatsoever for cosmetic work. However, Ameritas does! You may be able to choose a plan that reduces the cost of professional whitening and other smile-enhancing procedures.
If you’re not sure about the specific details of your plan, rely on us to help you out! Simply provide us with your insurance information, and we’ll investigate how your coverage works. We’ll explain how your policy relates to any treatment you need, how much you’ll owe out of pocket for any given procedure, and how you can plan your dental work in order to get the most out of your benefits. For example, if you do not have the Ameritas Dental Rewards feature as part of your plan, we might suggest that you break up any major work across two calendar years so you can take advantage of multiple annual maximums.
